RS IOS app, OS update, Classes

Ranny opened the 2/22/13 session with several announcements and some arm twisting to solicit “volunteers” for research and future presentations. Ranny was definitely on a mission and spoke very fast, so excuse the note-taker for probably missing a few things. Melissa helped tremendously by writing as much as possible on the white boards and encouraged all of us to take photos of the board after class (I am sure glad I did that).

Using your wifi connection in class or at home, create an "RS iOS app" on your device.
  1. Class was directed to find the RS Apple support group’s BlogSpot using Safari. To find the site, type http://rsiosseminar.blogspot.com in the address area at top of Safari screen. 
  2. Once our BlogSpot opens, add an icon for the site to the home screen by tapping on the arrow-in-the-box at the top of the screen. Select “add to home screen”. 
  3. Another box will appear titled “Add to Home”. Either accept the tentative title shown in the box or change the name by typing more text, i.e. RS iOS Apple Support Group. Once satisfied with the name, tap the “ADD” button. An icon will now display on your home page with that name. 
  4. Now you have instant access to the latest RS iOS information! 
The latest iOS update (6.1.2) is available for your device. To update your device:
  1. Tap on the “Settings” icon (look for icon with gears) on home page. Select “General” from list on left side of screen. 
  2. Tap on “Software Update”. The note shown will indicate whether “your software is up to date, or that a software update is available for download. If not up to date, proceed with the download (tap the download button). The update can take a few minutes. 
EmpowerMac.com has four workshops scheduled for this weekend, Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. There are both morning and afternoon sessions with topics including Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps.
