Hi, this is an open invite to all of you to attend our iPad/iPhone planning meeting for Spring 2013 semester. We will meet on Friday, Dec. 14 from 10:00 am to noon in the Folsom Room, 3rd Floor of the CSUS Student Union. You do not need to be an expert to participate in this planning session, as we need input and assistance from all levels of users to successfully carry out the 3 planned seminars that will be designed to try to meet the needs of Renaissance Society members.  The 3 separate seminars are:

  • TOPICS --a continuation of topics similar to those in previous semesters to supplement both the Basics and Projects seminars. Seminar participants will determine topics of interest, some possible topics are: as managing apps and accounts, maintaining your device, iCloud & syncing, eBooks, traveling with your device, favorite apps, updates & rumors, etc.
  • BASICS -- to help RS members new to their devices, and in some cases, perhaps new to computers as well.  We anticipate that many members will receive the gift of a device for Xmas & want to learn the basics of how to use it. Included will be using buttons on the device, browsing the Internet using Safari, Email and Contacts, Calendar, Reminders and Notes, and answering your questions.  This is a drop-in, hands-on seminar, bring your device.
  • PROJECTS -- to help intermediate device users have fun with and learn how to use their devices for photo, presentation and video projects. We will work on creating individual and group projects such as presentations using the Keynote App (Apple version of PowerPoint) and videos using the iMovies App.  Other projects may include creating photo albums, sharing photo journals, recording audio interviews. You must sign up for this seminar and purchase apps at a maximum of $30. As this will be hands-on, bring your iPhone 4 or 4S or 5 and iPad 2 or iPad 3 or iPad Mini (all models that include a camera). The iOS version of 5.1.1 and above will be required. (Updates to the IOS are free.)
    Meetings: 9:30 to 11:00 am, Friday Feb 1, 15; March 1, 15; April 12, 26
  • Projects and Basics seminars are offered mornings on alternate weeks. The Topics seminar will be offered at noon each week of the semester.
