If you use Pages '09 on an iMac or a Mac Laptop, MacGuider has 14 tutorials at http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1F8C7B92CCDC09B9 These videos could give you ideas for word processing and then you can discover the wonders of how to do the same things using Pages on an iPad.
How about a book? I mean eBook or PDF. O'Reilly published Word Processing in Pages '09: the mini missing manual by Josh Clark in 2011 for $4.99. Order online at O'Reilly Books & Videos If you want more detail, get the iWork '09: the missing manual by Josh Clark from 2009 for $39.99 in print, $31.99 as an eBook. iWork is Apple's equivalent to Microsoft Office - word processing (Pages), spreadsheets (Numbers) and presentations (Keynote).
Search the iBooks Store on your iPad for Pages eBooks. Sean Kells has three books covering iWork apps, including Pages 1.6 for iPad for $4.99. Where is the Delete-Forward key? Do you want more keyboard options? Review this long list of text editors (word processing, blog writing, and such) where you can review the features that are important to you. iTextEditors - iPhone and iPad is a place to start looking for the app of your writing dreams. We review apps to write documents such as letters, reports, charts, resumes, posters, etc. on your iPad or iPhone. These apps are commonly called "word processors." Apple's word processor is called Pages. Other apps are based on Microsoft Word. This session will survey some of the most popular word processing apps.
'Word Processing' is really a desktop computing term, and we should take a broader view to 'text processing' or 'writing' apps. Some built-in apps come to mind (Notes & Mail) but hearing testimonials about other writing apps will help you narrow the choices before you buy one. In addition to writing apps, there are fabulous notetaking apps and brainstorming apps. Whee!
